Life Feel Empty? Find Hope Here! As we all have experienced, life can be downright difficult, even discouraging. Like a siphon, the circumstances of life can drain not only the joy and pleasure of life, but also our purpose in life. It doesn’t have to be this way, though, due to what was accomplished on Easter morning. While Good Friday serves for us as a sad and reflective day, Easter morning is the day that brings joy and purpose back into our lives. As the Bible states, without the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, life would be completely void of purpose and meaning. To be sure, people may think they can find their purpose in life by virtue of what the world can offer, but this is only short-lived. Ultimately, what fulfills our longing for purpose and meaning in life is the miracle of Easter. When we stop and think about it, what better way to “resurrect” our meaning than to consider the amazement of the empty tomb! What the empty tomb did for Mary, Salome, Peter, John, and the other followers of Christ was that it renewed their perspective in life with hope and promise! Discovering the empty tomb for these followers was what converted their sadness into joy, their despair into hope, and their void into a renewed and fulfilled purpose in life. Consider the truth of the Apostle Paul’s own words, “If Christ has not been raised, our faith is useless and futile. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pities more than all men.” (I Corinthians 15:14-19). What Paul is saying is that our lives would be meaningless if the resurrection didn’t happen or if it was some great myth. But to the contrary, it did happen, and it is the resurrection of Jesus that can plant our feet back on the solid foundation of hope, meaning, and fulfillment. So this Easter Season, allow Christ’s resurrection power to renew your own sense of meaning and purpose. Claim the disciples’ joy to be your joy as well! Experience it! Live it! As you do, God will renew not only your spirit, but also energize your purpose in life. All this begins by accepting Jesus as your personal Savior. It continues as you trust your life in Him! Give us a call or send an email (PastorJohn@stoneridgecc.org) if you would like to explore this further. We’re here to care! Have a blessed day, Pastor John
