"New Journey" Christian Cancer Support Group
Helping people journey with God in the midst of cancer and the challenges it brings.
It’s hard to “stand tall” when facing a crises of cancer. Cancer has a way of bringing us to our knees. Cancer upsets our daily routines, and it tries to rob us of the vitality of life and hope. Being diagnosed with cancer affects not only the patient, but their family as well. Cancer has a way of causing people to begin a “new journey of life,” one that can potentially lead to a feeling of loneliness and helplessness. Stoneridge Church of Allison Park, PA wants you to know that your journey with cancer doesn't have to be one that you experience alone. While there are many excellent cancer support groups in the greater Pittsburgh area, “New Journey” intentionally offers specific Christian support to cancer patients and their families. Aiming to provide support and encouragement from a solid biblical perspective, “New Journey” is created to walk along side of those challenged by this disease. To know that God cares about you and wants to encourage you in the midst of cancer is a powerful dynamic that can make a big difference in helping you journey with God through this difficult “season” of your life. Know that all are welcome to be part of “New Journey!” No matter what your religious background may be, all are welcome to this non-denominational support group each month!! The Specifics of “New Journey” · This is a new support ministry created in the fall of 2011 by the Stoneridge Church of Allison Park, PA. The insights shared aim to provide words of encouragement and hope. 3. A time of prayer and encouragement. An up-to-date “Prayer List” is kept and shared throughout the month on an on-going basis. A “circle of prayer” is created for each cancer patient. 4. A time of “resourcing” cancer patients and their families with knowledge on timely and relevant topics about cancer. This may include guest speakers who bring to the group professional insights pertinent to the physical disease of cancer. 5. A time of fellowship, food, and fun. New Journey is designed to offer people a positive and uplifting time of interaction with others. 6. Occasional additional gatherings, including potluck picnics and other events.
